I built ZenTables without a development background — here's what that taught me

Hey Developer Council 👋

I'm not a developer. I came from photography and videography.

But I kept running into the same problem with every GHL client:

Data in Google Sheets. They wanted it on their GHL site. They wanted it to look good. They wanted it to update automatically without calling me.

I was the bottleneck. And I knew it.

So I figured it out. Piece by piece. Without a development background.

Here's the workflow that came out of it:

Connect the client's Google Sheet, Airtable, or REST API to ZenTables

Style the table once to match their brand

Drop one embed into a GHL Custom HTML element

Client updates the data — site updates automatically

Zero developer involvement after setup.

When the first stranger signed up without me pitching them — I knew it was solving a real problem.

Today ZenTables is used by agencies and developers across GHL, Webflow, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Framer and more.
